Cookie policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This policy explains cookies and similar browser storage on Universal Vehicle Security’s website. For information about personal information more generally, read our privacy policy.
What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with relevant website requests. Local storage keeps information in your browser without automatically sending it with each request. This website uses both session cookies and local storage.
Storage used by this website
- Website session — QBITSID followed by a site-specific suffix: a first-party session cookie supporting secure forms, form-security tokens and CMS sign-in. It can also hold an approximate country used by built-in reporting. It is configured as a session cookie, normally lasting until the browser session ends, although browsers may restore sessions.
- Cookie choice — qbit-tracking-choice: first-party local storage remembering whether you accepted or rejected optional tracking, the tracking configuration and an expiry timestamp. The website honours the choice for 180 days, then asks again. Local storage has no automatic browser expiry: the stored value may remain until it is replaced or you clear it.
- CMS remembered sign-in — qbit_cms_remember: a first-party authentication cookie used only when a CMS user selects “Keep me logged in for 30 days”. It lasts up to 30 days and can be cleared through sign-out or browser controls. Ordinary visitors do not need it.
Optional analytics and advertising
Google Analytics and Meta Pixel are not configured on this website as at the date above. Selecting “Accept optional cookies” therefore does not currently activate either service.
The CMS supports loading Google Analytics and Meta Pixel when configured, but only after acceptance of optional tracking. Changing their configured identifiers causes the website to ask for a fresh choice. This policy should be updated with the actual providers, cookie names, purposes and lifetimes before optional tracking is introduced.
Choosing and changing your settings
- Essential only: declines the optional Google Analytics and Meta Pixel integrations.
- Accept optional cookies: allows those integrations if configured.
- Cookie settings: reopens the choice at the bottom of the website so you can change your decision.
You can continue using the website after declining optional tracking. If optional tracking has already loaded and you switch to Essential only, the website disables further loading and reloads the page. This does not necessarily delete existing provider cookies or undo information already sent. Use your browser’s privacy controls to remove existing cookies and site storage.
Choices apply to the browser and website address used. A different device, browser, local development address or cleared browser storage may require a new choice. Blocking all cookies may affect form security and CMS sign-in.
Other technical services
Built-in server-side reporting records page visits, timestamps, referring website/path and an approximate country where available. It may use a country.is IP-address lookup separately from optional Google and Meta tracking. Fonts load from Google Fonts. The optional-cookie controls do not switch off these requests. See the privacy policy for details.
Facebook and map links take you to external websites. Those services control their own cookies when you visit them.
