Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This policy explains how Universal Vehicle Security uses personal information collected through this website and when you contact us about our services.
Who is responsible for your information?
Universal Vehicle Security is responsible for the information it collects for its own enquiries and services. Contact us at info@universalvehiclesecurity.co.uk, call 07969 588148, or write to Wrangbrook Manor, Tomwood Ash Lane, Upton, Pontefract, WF9 1HB.
Information we collect
- Enquiries: your first and last name, company or vehicle-owner name, email, optional telephone number, message, and the date and wording of your form acknowledgement.
- Vehicle and service information: details you choose to provide, such as make, model, year, location and the security system you are interested in.
- Correspondence: information you provide when you call, email or contact us through Facebook.
- Website information: pages visited, visit times, referring website and path, and country where available. The web server also receives technical request information, including your IP address. Session cookies support forms and sign-in.
Please do not send passwords, immobiliser disarm sequences, payment-card details or other sensitive information through the enquiry form.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Responding to enquiries and arranging services: where you ask us for a quote or booking for yourself, we use information to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and to perform a contract where applicable.
- General and business enquiries: our legitimate interests in responding to requests, maintaining business relationships and keeping an accurate record of correspondence.
- Website operation, security and basic reporting: our legitimate interests in running a secure, reliable website and understanding how it is used, balanced against visitors’ rights.
- Legal requirements: where necessary to meet an applicable legal obligation, for example when maintaining required transaction records.
- Optional tracking: consent, if optional analytics or advertising tools are configured and you accept them. Google Analytics and Meta Pixel are not configured as at the date above.
The contact-form acknowledgement records your agreement to storage for responding to the enquiry. It is not an agreement to receive promotional messages. An enquiry also creates or updates a contact record in the CMS’s subscriber directory; this does not itself send marketing messages or amount to marketing consent.
Who receives information?
Information is accessible to authorised people handling enquiries and administering the website. Website, hosting, IT and email service providers may process information as needed to deliver those services. If a booking requires information to be shared with a tracker or security-system provider, we will explain the relevant arrangement when you book. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal rights.
The website’s built-in reporting can send your IP address to the country.is service at api.country.is to obtain an approximate country when this is not available from the server or session. The reporting record stores the resulting country rather than the IP address in its page-view table. This lookup operates separately from the optional analytics-cookie choice.
The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves requests to Google’s font servers and disclosure of technical connection information such as your IP address. Facebook and directions links open external services, whose own privacy policies apply. For more information, see Google’s privacy policy and Meta’s privacy policy.
Overseas processing
External font, geolocation and social-media services may process information outside the UK. Their own privacy information explains their locations and arrangements. Contact us if you need information about the providers used for a particular enquiry or service and any applicable transfer safeguards.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose of the record: whether an enquiry is still open, whether it leads to a booking, the need to support an installation or warranty, and any applicable legal requirements or dispute. Enquiry records and contact-directory records are separate, so a deletion request should cover both. The current CMS does not automatically expire these records; any deletion requires administrative action. Contact us for the retention position applicable to your information.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, or request deletion or restriction. Depending on the circumstances, you may also have a right to portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can object to direct marketing at any time. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Rights are subject to applicable conditions and exemptions.
Contact us using the details above. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You do not have to provide information, but we may be unable to respond or arrange a service without sufficient contact and vehicle details. This website does not make automated decisions about bookings or service eligibility.
Cookies and security
Use the Cookie settings button to change optional tracking choices. See our cookie policy for storage names, purposes and durations. Access to the CMS requires sign-in; please avoid sending confidential vehicle-security details through ordinary website messages.
Complaints and updates
Please contact us first if you have a concern. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through the ICO complaints service. We will update this page when our website or information-handling arrangements change.
